Genevieve has been working as a translator and simultaneous interpreter since 1975 when she graduated from the University of Ottawa with a BA Honours in Linguistics (Translation). Her first 12 years in the profession were spent on Parliament Hill in Ottawa working for the Committees of both the House and the Senate and ultimately, in the House of Commons itself. She left her home in Ottawa and moved to the Rockies in 1987, settling in Canmore, Alberta. She ran the Translation Bureau’s tiny office in Calgary from 1987 to 1989. In 1989, her daughter was born and Genevieve started her most important job, that of a mother. Her son was born in 1992. She has continued to work on a freelance basis translating documents on all kinds of subjects, and as an interpreter, traveling to conferences to help people to understand one another in Canada’s two official languages.

Genevieve is accredited as a French-English translator/interpreter with the Government of Canada. She is also a member of the Alberta Translators and Interpreters Association.

Apart from translating Evelyne Daigle’s two children’s books As Long as There Are Whales and The World of Penguins from French into English, practising Integrative Energy Healing (www.lotushands.ca) and learning more about the Great Mystery, spending time with her children, her miniature Schnauzer Louis, and her friends have brought her the most joy in life.
